We left our kid’s water table out in the yard (which they’d filled with sand) and it collected rain water. My husband was out cutting the grass the other day and nearly tipped the table over to empty it, but then spotted wiggling “things” in the water. Upon closer inspection we’ve realized that our water table has become a habitat for an insane amount of tadpoles! They’re at all different stages of growth, so this is going to be a wonderful chance for the kids to watch them grow into frogs (if our water table is enough to sustain them until that transformation!)
Here’s a video I took of them. I could just stare at them all day, I think they’re so cool!
Make sure you maximize the video in you screen so you can see them – they’re so tiny!
**Ewww, one of my readers just suggested that these swimmers might be mosquito larvae, and I think most of them are What a bummer, but there are some larger ones in there that I think are tadpoles – maybe just wishful thinking. I think the water table will be dumped out and tossed in the garbage (it has a crack in it) tonight – tadpoles or no tadpoles!
