A Giant Dust Devil Wiped Out My Bucket List Today!

dust devil Binbrook

They’ve started clearing the giant field that was behind our house to put in a new neighbourhood and I just happened to peak out the window to see a GIANT dust devil whirling across the cleared area this afternoon!  I’m so lucky that my phone was near by and I was able to get it into video mode while jumping up and down and screaming “IT’S A TORNADO!” You see…I’m slightly tornado obsessed.  I even have a “twister”  tattoo on {Read More}

We Thought We Were In The Clear – Fifth’s Returns…

I’m quite sure that if I was employed by anyone other than myself, I’d be out of a job at this point.  Our kids and I have basically been sick (off and on – more on than off) for more than 6 weeks.  First, our son caught Fifth’s, then I caught it [NOT FUN], then our daughter caught Hand Foot & Mouth Disease, then I caught it [NOT FUN].  Next, our son caught Hand Foot & Mouth Disease and NOW {Read More}

WARNING: Speed Trap Ahead!

speeding car

Speeding traffic is a common “hot topic” in most communities.  My family lives on what will eventually be a fairly main street in a new subdivision that is a bit of a runway, calling to speeders.  Large construction vehicles, and other drivers whiz by my house at ridiculous speeds, pretty regularly (though not so much now that access to Binbrook Road is temporarily blocked). I frequently read comments online and hear people talking about how frustrated they are with the lack of police presence {Read More}

Yes, I Am About to Turn Our Home Into A Greenhouse

Last summer I grew my first veggie garden!  I started late in the season, but still managed to produce some HUGE zucchinis, peas, cucumbers and of course tomatoes from seeds.  Unfortunately, we moved to Binbrook right at my veggie garden’s peak.  I don’t have a garden to plant in yet here at our new house.  We don’t have ANY landscaping plans yet, but I enjoyed the whole process of turning tiny, (seemingly) lifeless seeds into giant food producing plants so {Read More}
